The Christopher Street Day: A Celebration of Gay Pride in Hamburg

The Christopher Street Day, or CSD, is Hamburg’s version of the gay pride parade.  It is a commemoration of the first uprising made by homosexual people against police assaults that was held at Christopher Street in New York’s Greenwich Village on June 27, 1969.  Held on various weekends of June and August rather than the historic June 27, the CSD in Hamburg is celebrated with floats and cultural presentations.
